ISTRIA 2023

The Istrian Peninsula: 3 countries in one week:
Italy, Slovenia and Croatia

During mid October, a group of seven Istrian Explorers lucked out with unseasonably hot and sunny weather for a week of perfect cycling, city touring, stunning scenery, fantastic food and excellent swimming.

We landed in Trieste and worked our way down the Istrian coast, taking in the medieval town of Koper, the achingly picturesque Piran, the hilltop town of Motovun - a centre for delicious and rare white truffles which just so happened to be in season and finally on to Rovinj, where we enjoyed an unforgettable sunset cruise surrounded by pods of dolphins as they breached and played.

Whilst the rides were not as challenging as some of our other trips, we did cover a total climb of around 2500m over a distance of around 200Km and had just the most perfect combination of coastal and inland scenery. An unforgettable visual feast.
