Scotland 2018 - Aberfeldy, Perthshire
We will be celebrating the long summer days and the summer solstice in Scotland from the 16th to the 23rd of June 2018. Lots of good cycling, mostly grade 3 and 4. Countryside is spectacular from moorland to lochside and riverside locations (nothing flat!). Loch Tay, Loch Rannock, Kenmore, Killin, Pitlochry, Dunkeld, Loch Tummel are all within easy reach for day trips without being too hilly. Of course there are hilly routes as well.
We will be staying in three lovely lodges provided by Drumcroy Lodges near Aberfeldy.
Each lodge sleeps 4 people (a double room, a twin room and a sofa bed in the lounge) and are self-catering, though there are restaurants and other entertainment (cinema, theatre, pubs) in town, not to mention the world famous Chocolate Lounge.
Cost: Accommodation is £180 per person for the week. There is an electricity charge of 15p per kWh unit. Deposit of £50 on registration and remainder due in April.
Travel: There are trains from Euston or Kings Cross to Pitlochry - there are also sleeper trains available. Some of us will be travelling up by car so there may be a few spare places.
Bike Hire: There is a bike shop in Pitlochry but we think it will be much easier if you bring your own bikes.
Routes: Below are a selection of rides we will be doing during the week.
