The first time I tried to run this ride, the weather was so bad, we cancelled it. This time however, the sun was out and it was hot! Eleven of us, a mix of men and women, met at Woldingham station. This is quite a good number for a grade 4 ride. There is no escape from hills in the North Downs, and immediately out from the station, we hit our first incline. This was a good warm up. The route then carried on through Godstone and Lingfield. Before Cowden, we cycled through a beautiful hidden valley, my favorite stretch. Lunch was at the Spotted Dog in Penshurst, which is a great pub, even though the portions were a bit small. After Leigh, we had the steep climb up to One tree hill. Danny was so keen, he he carried straight on past the top of the hill, hence his absence from the photo (thanks to Nestor) at the top. Once we found Danny, we headed across to Ide hill and a cake stop at Brasted. The final stretch was a hot gradual climb back to Woldingham. Total mileage about 55miles, no punctures and only 2 wrong turns.
