ALBANIA 2019

Albania in April 2019 was sunny and refreshingly chilly in the crisp mountain air. 

 

We had a tour of the southern half of the country, cycling most days whilst our baggage was transported from hotel to hotel.  Our Albanian guide was friendly and professional as were the mechanic and the guy who drove the support vehicle.  We combined cycling through stunning mountain and coastal scenery with sightseeing. 

 

On the last cycling day we had a long and thigh-burning climb as we zig-zagged up a bare mountain above the sea.  The fastest guy in the group made the ascent in a couple of hours; the rest of us took twice that long, but everyone made the summit and everyone had a great sense of achievement.  And a well-deserved lunch.
